The clients came to this project with a clear feeling in mind — a soft coastal retreat that honored their love of the ocean without leaning into the obvious. Having honeymooned in South Africa, they wanted pieces that carried personal meaning alongside the design story, so we sourced a cream cowhide tray with warthog tusk handles, recycled glass beads, hand-dyed pillow covers and throws, and cowry shell necklaces displayed on stands — objects that live in the room as memory as much as decoration.
The primary suite anchors around a custom alabaster chandelier and matching bedside pendants, with layered textiles moving between linen, pattern, and texture in a palette of warm grey and sand. The family room carries the story through — we worked with their existing sofa and designed entirely around it, styling the bookcases and introducing the triptych floral art to bring warmth to the white millwork. This is a new build, and every decision was made to ensure the softness of one room flowed naturally into the next.
